SNAPSHOT PHOTO CONTEST - AWARDS FOR THE BEST NATURE PICTURES
Together with the Basel energy supply company IWB and the Fotohaus Basel, the Natural History Museum is holding the SNAPSHOT photo competition for the sixth time. This year's Public Prize and a Biodiversity Prize will be awarded by IWB. The 35 best photographs can be admired in an exhibition at the museum from 27 March to 29 June 2025.
For the Snapshot competition an independent jury selects ten images from each of the three categories and awards the podium places. Perhaps yours is going to be one of them and, with a bit of luck, you could win a fantastic prize from the Fotohaus Basel.
Photographs with a focus on biodiversity are honoured by IWB. After a pre-selection by our external expert jury, an IWB committee selects three images. These winning images will be used in digital and analogue communication as part of IWB's biodiversity campaign. All images submitted for the photo competition will enter the race for the Public Prize. Here, the audience decides what they like: the photo with the most clicks wins through online voting.
Only amateur photographers are eligible to enter the competition. They are allowed to submit one image in each of the categories «Plants, landscapes and other natural phenomena», «Animals in their habitat» and «Children see nature» (children aged 5 to 12).
The Snapshot photo competition takes place as part of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year special exhibition.
