Net-Winged Insects Neuroptera, Raphidiptera, Megaloptera

The net-winged insects include the three orders Neuroptera (net-winged insects in the restricted sense), the snakeflies (Raphidioptera) and alderflies (Megaloptera). They all possess net-like wing venation.

Net-winged insects are a relatively species-poor group. The collection includes species from all over the world, with a good representation of the local fauna. The collection mostly includes specimens that are over 50 years old. Most of the specimens come from Eduard Handschin and Willy Eglin.

All in all, the collection of net-winged insects comprises around 12,500 mainly dry mounted specimens from 500 species. Of these, around 20 are represented by primary types.
