Unicorns don't exist! Or are there? For one day, we will take you and your family on a search for curious, rare, wondrous and invented animals. On this fabulous and mysterious journey, we consult our experts: Have they ever seen a monster? In which seas do mermaids live? And what is a nasobēm?
Wander through deep forests, discover new corners of the museum and meet mythical creatures you've probably never come across before.

The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) is in Basel, bringing melodies, rhythm and showbiz to our city. Under the motto ‘Glitter & Glamour’, we are offering our guests from near and far free admission to the museum from 13-17 May 2025 and surprise with a special program: Visit the only real unicorn, dance to your favourite song in the smallest disco on the world and join in the excitement at the public viewing with DJ Flavah Nice in the courtyard on 15 May.

DJ Flavah Nice is a glamorous DJ and dancer behind the turntables who has already rocked the world stage with great musicians such as Talib Kweli, One Direction and Pharell Williams. Together with The Haze, our booker for the line-up of the After Hours evenings, they rock our museum.
Additional we offer on this unique evening free admission to the special exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year and you are invited to visit our magical unicor or dance to your favourite song in the teledisko.
At 9 pm. we tune in the public viewing of the 2nd ESC semi-final in our cosy courtyard.
